About ICARC 2027

"Human-Centered Intelligent Systems for a Sustainable Digital Future"

The rapid advancement of intelligent computing technologies is continuously reshaping modern society by transforming industries, economies, education, healthcare, governance, and human interaction. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, and Cyber-Physical Systems have emerged as key drivers of global digital transformation. While these technological advancements create unprecedented opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and societal progress, they also introduce critical challenges related to ethics, transparency, privacy, security, inclusivity, trustworthiness, and sustainability.

The 2027 7th International Conference on Advanced Research in Computing (ICARC 2027), organized by the Faculty of Computing, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, will be held on 16th and 17th February 2027 in hybrid mode under the theme “Human-Centered Intelligent Systems for a Sustainable Digital Future.” This theme highlights the growing importance of designing, developing, and deploying intelligent technologies that prioritize human values, societal well-being, ethical responsibility, and long-term sustainability.

As intelligent systems become increasingly integrated into critical domains such as healthcare, agriculture, education, transportation, cybersecurity, smart cities, governance, and industrial automation, ensuring that these technologies remain trustworthy, explainable, secure, accessible, and human-centered has become a global priority. Human-centered intelligent systems are expected not only to enhance technological capabilities but also to augment human potential, support informed decision-making, promote fairness and accountability, and foster meaningful interactions between humans and intelligent technologies.

Furthermore, the rapidly increasing computational demands of AI-driven applications and digital infrastructures have intensified the need for energy-efficient, resilient, and environmentally sustainable computing solutions. Addressing these emerging challenges requires interdisciplinary research, responsible innovation, and collaborative efforts among academia, industry, policymakers, and society.

ICARC 2027 aims to provide a vibrant international platform for researchers, academics, industry professionals, practitioners, innovators, and students to exchange knowledge, present cutting-edge research findings, and establish collaborative partnerships in the broad domain of advanced computing and intelligent systems. The conference welcomes original research contributions, practical innovations, and interdisciplinary approaches that address both technological advancement and societal impact.

The conference features keynote and plenary speeches from eminent scholars and industry experts, oral presentations, pre-conference workshops and tutorials, and public discussions to provide ample opportunities for discussion and knowledge dissemination in a wide range of computing disciplines.

Faculty of Computing takes pride in remarking that ICARC 2027 seventh consecutive year will be technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Global, IEEE Sri Lanka Section, IEEE Computer Society of Sri Lanka Chapter, IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Sri Lanka Chapter, IEEE Signal Processing Chapter, IEEE GRSS Sri Lanka Chapter and IEEE Communications Society Sri Lanka Chapter.

The accepted and presented papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore, subject to meeting IEEE Xplore's scope and quality requirements.
